The African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) 2016 in Nairobi, has as its central theme, the campaign “Seize the moment: securing Africa’s rise through agricultural transformation” .

With more than 1,500 delegates from 40 countries, including African heads of state, global business leaders, government ministers, farmers, agribusiness firms, financial institutions, NGOs, civil society groups and scientists, as well as international development and technical partners, it represents “the broadest coalition ever assembled to support a transition from subsistence to income-earning agriculture in Africa” .

Following a three-year series of African Green Revolution Conferences (AGRC) held in Oslo, Norway from 2006 to 2008, the AGRF was launched in 2010 and has subsequently emerged as a leading agricultural dialogue platform in Africa. As a private sector led initiative, the AGRF, established by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is designed to “discuss and develop concrete investment plans and policy support for agricultural development in Africa”.
